Give Your Remote Team a Shared Focus Timer
Getting a remote team to focus together is harder than it sounds. Everyone is in a different tool, a different timezone, a different rhythm. A shared focus timer embedded right in your team space is one small thing that actually helps.
One URL, every teammate
The Tomatoro widget lives at a single URL:
https://tomatoro.com/widget
Drop it into an embed block on your shared Notion workspace, your Confluence page, or any team wiki that supports iframes. Whoever opens the page sees the timer — no installs, no accounts, nothing to configure.
How teams use it
Sprint kick-offs. Pin the widget at the top of your sprint board. When it's time to start a deep work block, everyone clicks Start. It's a low-key synchronization ritual that doesn't require a Slack message or a calendar invite.
Async focus blocks. Not everyone works the same hours. Because each person's session runs in their own browser, the timer is personal — it doesn't broadcast or force coordination. You can embed it on a shared page and still use it completely independently.
Team stand-up prep. Put the widget on your daily stand-up notes page with a short break configured. When the session ends, everyone knows it's time to write their update.
Each person's session is their own
There's no "shared session" — the widget doesn't sync between browsers or show other people's countdowns. That's intentional. Coordination happens at the page level (you're looking at the same embedded widget), but focus happens individually. No one can pause someone else's timer.
Signed-in users get their sessions logged to their Tomatoro account as usual. Anonymous users get a working timer with no history — which is still useful for most quick rituals.
A note on cookies
When Notion or another host embeds the widget, the browser may block
Tomatoro's session cookie as a third-party cookie. In that case, signed-in
sync quietly falls back to the anonymous experience — the timer still works,
it just won't log sessions to an account. If sync matters to your team,
opening the widget directly at tomatoro.com/widget always works.
This technique works better with the right tool. Tomatoro handles the timing so you can stay locked in. Free to use, always.
